WPRAG recommendations on Regulation on Voter Registration

Women’s Political Rights Advocacy Group convened a session on May 13th to finalize its recommendations on Regulation on Voter Registration. At the beginning of the session, the Regulation on Voter Registration was reviewed article by article and the recommendations were modified as follows: 1-In the center of provinces women need to have their pictures taken for voting cards, however, in districts and villages, IEC staff in voter registration centers must encourage the participants in having their pictures taken. In latter case, taking picture is not a requirement but highly encouraged. 2- Mobile teams must be deployed in provinces as well as in districts and villages to further facilitate public accessibility to voter registration centers1. 3-Women should be given the privilege to register without having valid documents; however, IEC staff in voter registration centers must identify the identity and physical appearance of the voters to make sure they meet the voting requirements.
