Meeting with the Women’s Political Rights Advocacy Group (WPRAG)
FEFA held its second meeting with Women’s Political Rights Advocacy Group (WPRAG) on November 25 to further discuss the Recommended Policy and to review the work mechanism drafted by FEFA. The group was created to act as an informal group of volunteers striving not only to advocate FEFA’s Recommended Policy on Enhancing Women’s Participation in Electoral Process but women’s political rights in all aspects of democratic and political processes. According to the agenda, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs was to have a representative sent to the session to present the summary of their work and their future approaches to the approval of the policy. However, despite FEFA’s consistent attempts, the Ministry refused to send delegates to the session. WPRAG debated the policy in greater detail and while making few adjustments they suggested having the group’s name mentioned alongside FEFA’s in the draft policy. The group also reviewed the work mechanism and considered a few changes for further improvement of the draft. At the meeting it was decided that FEFA in cooperation with the WPRAG will set up a meeting with the Minister of the MoWA to discuss the policy and hopefully seek a way to accelerate the approval process of the draft policy.
