Assessment of 17th Round’s Young MPs’ Performance in Wolesi Jirga
In continuation to the series of meeting, women and youth unit of FEFA this time held their third meeting of political rights advocacy group on 4th March 2020 attended by 20 members of the group (7 female and 13 male) at FEFA office. The main purpose of the meeting was to evaluate performance of young Afghan representatives of Wolesi Jirga regarding political participation of youths. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Haseeb Moterif (Supervisor of FEFA Parliamentary Observations) provided information to participants on the purpose of parliamentary observation conducted by FEFA and said, “the purpose of FEFA observation from the performance of parliamentarians is to provide productive and timely reports on the performance of representatives and sharing the results with parliamentary leadership in order to improve their performance and make necessary reforms to create a strong parliament at the national level. Qualitative Presence of Young Representatives: He believes that obsession, movements, efforts and voices of the current parliament were individual and that we have not observed effective and collective movements of young people so far. He suggested that these developments should be systematic so that their activities are observed well (more tangible.) On the other hand, he termed the lack of a special youth commission as one of the obstacles for young representatives.
