Press Release: Women in Five coming years
The Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan-FEFA besides observing democratic processes, strives to strengthen women and youths’ role and participation in democratic processes. Therefore, it took the initiative of collecting 2019 presidential candidates’ programs and commitments and printed it in a book titled place of women in the coming 5 years. This collection aims at strengthening women presence in the leadership level and verifying their place in the structure of government. This collection includes the programs and plans of all presidential candidates toward women. If we take a look at the past 18 years, the post-Taliban governments have not only made efforts to strengthen women engagement in decision makings but also giving elective seats and selective seats to women. During Karzai era, women had the opportunity of engagement in the leadership. Moreover, given the report released by the Administrative Reform Commission, the National Unity Government increased women presence in leadership to 25 percent. Additionally, women role and participation in elections indicates their will to institutionalize democracy. Women expected the new government to deliver all their commitments toward women. It has been 4 months since establishment of the new government but government’s performance over this period decreased women optimism due to the following reasons:
