Consultation meeting on peace in Kapisa
FEFA conducted a consultation meeting about peace and elections in Kapisa province. The objective of this meeting was gaining inputs from the political parties, civil society, ulema, elites, women rights activists, women and youth about peace and elections. The meeting began with recitation of some verses of holy Quran and then presentation of a power point presentation about the experience of peace and war in Colombia. Objective of the presentation was sharing the experiences of Colombia to use it in peace process of Afghanistan. After the presentation concluded the meeting participants asked their questions for the presentation. Then, the meeting participants were divided into 3 groups to work on specific questions already distributed to them. The participants discussed about the questions in the groups and came up with answers for them. They wrote their answers on the formats and then presented them to all participants to get their views and at the end submitted their forms to FEFA. The answers provided by the participants indicated that the residents of Kapisa province are tired of was and thirsty of peace. They were emphasizing on wrapping up peace talks. They declared that peace is substantive element of development in every society and without peace institutionalization of democracy is impossible. Therefore, all political groups, civil society, and people support peace talks. Main points raised by participants were as follow: 1. People of Afghanistan are tired of war. Therefore, support peace process; 2. There is no doubt that after the peace process, the constitution will amend. Therefore, it is better to discuss the controversial articles during the process; 3. The agenda of peace talks must be shared with the people of Afghanistan; 4. The women rights must be respected within the framework of Islam; 5. The achievements made over the past 19 must not be sacrificed.
The groups wrote their comments in the formats already prepared and submitted to FEFA. At the end, participants of the meeting thanked FEFA for conducting this meeting and added that these meetings can pave the ground detailed discussion of peace process. They requested FEFA to invite participants from every administrative units (districts) in future meetings.
