FEFA's advocacy group held a meeting with the deputy minister of justice
The FEFA advocacy group held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Justice, Sayed Mohammad Hashemi, regarding the proposal of FEFA on women's role in political parties on July 8, 2019, at his office. At the beginning of the meeting FEFA representatives discussed about the role of women in political parties and the proposal drafted by FEFA, and shared with the Deputy Minister of justice /Technical Affairs on July 8, 2019. The political structure of countries are different from each other, but they are more conducive to the realization of democracy, and the supporter of those governments are political parties. Parties are pursuing different political principles. In fact, what distinguishes parties from other political system groups is an attempt to achieve political power. In a democratic system, reaching out to power resources most of all relies on the correct organization of parties, which is why the presence of women in political parties is one of the ways to reach the sources of power. The most important challenge facing women in accessing sources of power should be the absence of a democratic atmosphere in Afghanistan, even if the laws call Afghanistan a democratic state, but this democracy has not yet institutionalized the essence of the individual, the family, society and in one whole, the collectively people and the system. This has also had a direct impact on political parties. The plurality of political parties and the absence of clear plans, the foundation of political parties based on ethnic and linguistic divisions, religious groups, parties and the lack of adherence of a vast number of political parties to democratic foundations, are the hallmarks of such an atmosphere. Therefore, in such an atmosphere, there is no place left for women in political parties. Parties that themselves do not believe in women's rights and political participation in most cases, cannot enter the elite woman in society.

This has led to the fact that women's demands are posed from their personal addresses. Such a situation cannot offer a political solution to the problems and injustices that women have been struggling throughout history. In democratic societies, political parties play a major role in empowering and enabling women, and this is where women can gain confidence and see themselves involved in political affairs in the country. On the other hand, in the electoral campaign, women enjoy more support from party activity and easier access to power. In contrast to any government decision that is in contradiction with the demands of women, they can stand up and protest to address issues such as the spread of violence, the removal of women from power and hampering their participation in political structures, they can present their plans and demands. The Women's Political Rights Advocacy Group, having regard to the importance of the issue of women's political participation in political parties, has developed the proposal in two areas (first topic: women's challenges in political parties, the second topic is the draft on amendment of law on the political parties). Although the plan was parented with Deputy Minister of Justice for technical Affairs on July 28, 2018, and he promised that a committee would be set up for amendment of the law, a year have passed but no meeting was held. Now, once again, we request your attention in this regard. In the following, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Mohammad Hashem, deemed role of the parties in the political process, especially the important elections important. The Ministry of Justice once again reconsiders your proposal and, at the same time, is determined to set up a committee under the deputy minister of justice for social affairs, the Ministry will modify the law on political parties and will use this initiative to increase the participation of women in political parties.
