Meeting of Youth Participation in Peace and Political / Electoral Processes
FEFA held a meeting on 8 September 2019 in kandahar with 10 participants, the purpose of the meeting is increasing youth participation in election and peace process At this meeting we discussed the following questions and the participants' views on each question were as follows: How do you evaluate youth participation in the political / election process? Youth can show brighter future with their presence in and participation in the elections and prevent the re -drowning the country in crisis.Because whatever process the youth participates in, they are successful. Another thing is that only the youths of the in centers of cities of province have awareness about the elections and almost 75% of the youths of Kandahar province live in the districts and rural areas therefore it is necessary to start such programs so that the youths of the districts know about the value of the elections. And enable them to vote for a good and competent person if they can vote for a good and competent person in the election process, that competent person will be a good resource for the country and will be well versed with politics. How do you evaluate the current selection process? The current political process is full of corruption and everyone is working for his or her own personal goals and trample the national interest. The current process is very complex because on one hand there are peace talks in progress and on the other hand election is approaching as well.
If peace comes, then elections should be postponed and an interim government established, because in our view, peace is more important than elections. If there is peace, then the opposing parties will also participate in the elections and vote and keep its Security. If peace comes ahead of the elections, all citizens of the country will participate in the elections independently and in the atmosphere of security and vote for their preferred candidate. Is the political situation related to peace or not? Of course, political conditions are directly related to peace, because if there is peace, then the political conditions will be well managed and organized. Throughout history, human beings have always been involved in warfare in one part of the world and have been deprived of the blessings of peace, but there are times in history that sometimes the whole world rests in peace and tranquility. And no one in the world has ever been sacrificed for war, killings and arrests. War and peace are two contradictory terms that have a relation as between right and wrong (justice and injustice). Where righteousness and justice exist between human beings and there is no injustice, people there will always be living in peace and tranquility, and where the justice is suppressed, force and injustice instead of justice and truth, the rights of the weaker is trampled by the powerful and the powerful ones forcefully take the right of the weak ones, there will be war and insecurity. How can youth play a positive role in the peace process? Youth have always been a victim of these long-lasting wars in the revolutions, therefore in peace process as well, they can play the most important role. So we request them to utilize their mental and physical capacity in peace building. Peace means unity, as black is Contradictory with white / heat with Cold, similarly war contradictory to peace. If we study the history of the country of Afghanistan, we will see that many youths, widows, children, elders and sisters are brutally killed by a different name and means, and this carnage is still ongoing. Youth must draw back their peers from front line of battles and encourage them to a peaceful and normal life rather than violence. By the grace of Allah, most of our youth now know that whom they are fighting with, they are our brothers and in the country where they are creating chaos is our homeland. How important is the role and presence of women in politics and peace? Sisters can play a positive role in maintaining peace and security, because they are the sisters who serve brothers in their homes, a sister is young, then gets married and becomes mothers and then educates their children, on hundred present in my opinion, the sisters can play a key role in security and can play a vital role in bringing peace. How can peace be achieved? We also have major responsibilities in bringing peace. Tribal leaders, who have become effective in many issues across Afghanistan, are able to tell those angry young men who are provoked by strangers to picked up guns for and kill their other brother, (the security forces) that this war is not in favor of anyone. The youth must be returned from the battle, as we see in the media, the youth conduct civil movement in most provinces to end civil war, the religious scholars give anti-war verdicts (Fatwas) , all of which have a major role and impact at putting an end to the war in Afghanistan. That means, the peoples can be very useful in bringing about peace, there are some circles that do not want peace of Afghanistan, and because they have been hired and deployed by intelligence of region they are operating here in favor of this intelligence communities. The duty of these circles is to create discord dispute and divide Afghans. It is the responsibility of the Afghans that, despite knowing these circles, need to be drive then off from their midst and all unanimously support their government and win the ongoing peace talks. At end of the meeting recommendation was collected and shared with head of youth deputy of MOIC in Kandahar on 17 September 2019.
