FEFA held a consultation meeting on peace and elections in Kandahar province
FEFA conducted a consultation meeting about peace and elections in Kandahar province, and the objective of this meeting was consultation with the political parties, civil society organizations and Ulema regarding peace and election where 30 people from the political parties, civil society organizations, Ulema, women rights activists, community leaders and youth attended this meeting to express their view on peace and elections. The meeting began with recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran and then a presentation about the war and peace processes of Colombia was presented to the meeting participants to use their experiences in war and peace process of Afghanistan. Then the meeting participants were divided into three groups to express their views about the questions already made by FEFA about peace and elections. Subsequently, every group was given time to present the result of their discussions and answer the participants questions about their answers. The participants added that NATO, America and the government of Afghanistan must be engaged in peace talks and prepare the peace talks agenda before official commencement of peace process. They requested the government of Afghanistan to create a national consensus on the peace process. They also emphasized on preserving national values and women rights in peace process. Participants stated that war has negatively impinged upon people’s lives. Therefore, it must end. At end of the meeting, participants thanked FEFA for conducting this meeting.
