Conference on presenting proposed principles for credibility of elections
Free & Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan Organization (FEFAo) conducted a conference on Feb. 20, 2019 at InterContinental Hotel to launch the declaration on proposed principles and recommendations for credibility of elections. Mr. Asghari from FEFAo, welcomed the participants and thanked the Counterpart International, the USAID, Inter-news and the Agha Khan Foundation for funding the project on credibility of election. Furthermore, he appreciated all the electoral institutions that have contributed to the implementation of the election support program. He said that Free & Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan Organization (FEFAo) has summarized the findings, suggestions and recommendations that are gathered from provincial electoral stakeholders forums, consultation meetings and Advocacy Meetings in the form of "Declaration on Proposed Principles for Credibility of Elections", and is sharing it through a conference with all of the electoral stakeholders, international community and sponsors of the program. FEFAo, based on the provincial observatory findings and consultative meetings with political parties and civil society organizations, aimed at correcting some of the violations and preventing further violations in the next stages of the election, FEFAo submitted the principles and recommendations to the Independent Election Commission, Election Complaints Commission, the Department of Population Civil Registration, the Government of Afghanistan and the international community. Part of these Proposed Principles could be implemented in the short term, but many others require the planning, follow-up and long-term commitment of the electoral bodies. On the other hand, a number of them focus on the registration process itself, while others are linked to other electoral processes.
