Electoral stakeholders forum in Nangarhaar province

Nangarhar Electoral Forum took place on Monday July 23, 2018 at White House Conference Hall. The program launched by FEFA provincial coordinators. They introduced the Electoral Forum and gave insights of the program to the stakeholders. The program participants were IEC provincial chief, ECC Provincial chief, UNAMA representative, Nangarhar Provincial Council, Civil Society activists, representatives of political parties, Nangarhar National Police commander and ACRA Afghanistan Civil Registry Authority. The Forum Participants discussed on couple of electoral matters as in: Election process, voter registration, candidates’ nomination, women’s contribution in election process, women’s nomination in district council election, concerns on distribution of National ID card, sticker installation furthermore, the participants criticized the poor accountability of IEC public awareness department. Asrarullah Marahat the Nangarhar Provincial Council representative pointed out the public concerns in Nangarhar province. He called the election a national and democratic process in which people have to participate based on Afghanistan Electoral Law in peaceful area. Furthermore, he mentioned of the previous elections in Afghanistan and asked the election stakeholders to seriously work for integrity. Provincial chief of IEC Mr. Zabiullah Wogli expressed his speech and publicly shared the concerns on electoral process in Nangarhaar. • Although security is not good in Nangarhar, people have been widely enrolled for election. • In Roodat district, martyrs were martyred for implementing the electoral process. The registration process was not easy and the success of the registration process was due to the sacrifice of security partners. • In the districts, we hired female employees to register women, and in some other districts we hired old men to register women. • In all women's registration centers, the Election Commission has set up female police force to check in the women. • In Nangarhar, 820000 people registered for election. Among which there were 176 Hindu and 6000 Kochi. • Election commission officials thanked the parliamentary and district council candidates for their cooperation. Candidates helped the electoral process and safety of election.
