Successful young figures of 2016 and conference on strengthening the youth political participation
The Women & Youth Outreach Department of FEFA held a conference on March 17, 2016 in Safi Landmark hotel to release its book of “Young Figures. Beside, releasing the book of “Young Figures” the Women & Youth Outreach Department of FEFA released the report of its awareness programs about election too. Totally, 130 person including MPs, representatives of civil society organizations, representatives of Youth Deputy of MoIC, members of Youth Committees of political parties and university students attended this conference. The Young Figures book introduces 13 elite youth who are successful in their working areas and have worked to increase youth participation in democratic-political processes. The youth achievements, challenges and opportunities were also discussed in this conference. Panelists: Dr. Faramarz Tamana (Head of Center for Strategic Studies of Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Mr. Mujib Mehrdad (Spokesperson for Ministry of Education), Mr. Zafar Ali Ranjbar (Head of Human Resources Department of Ministry of Urban Development), Mr. Fahim Sediqqi (Chair of New Line Organization), Mr. Naim Nazari (Journalist), Sakina Hussaini (Member of Provincial Council), Miss. Mursal Mansouri (Journalist) Mrs. Habiba Qaderi (Member of Kabul Provincial Council) and Mr. Fayaz Gheyassi (Head of Human Resources Department of E-Tazkira Issuance Office). Objective: Adolescence is the springtime of human life. Most of elders talk about their early life and advice the youth to know the value of their adolescence. The period of adolescence is different from other periods of life. During adolescence the physical and mental abilities of people are remarkable. Attempts for progress, initiation and invention are the characteristics of adolescence. Youth are future leaders of the country. Youth are majority of population of Afghanistan therefore their participation in political processes important. Youth are the supporters of democracy and democratic states. Youth’s participation in elections and civic activities strengthen democracy. The role of youth is remarkable in nation building. . Youth have active part in mass media and they are consist users of social media.

The youth who have joined security forces are actively fighting the insurgents and defend their country. The youth who have joined security forces have paved the ground of a calm life for their people in the cities and villages. Thousands of other youth are athletes and raise the flag of Afghanistan in international sport arenas. Despite, all these efforts and sacrifices of youth the government hasn’t paid attention to them and hasn’t supported them. Inattention to youth and overlooking their leadership and management abilities led them flee Afghanistan. Thousands of educated and elite youth are fleeing Afghanistan due to inattention to them. Youth are the intellectual capital of societies. Therefore, their participation is very important in social-political processes. Considering this principle, FEFA held the “Youth and Election” program to increase youth awareness about democratic-political processes. Totally, 977 youth took part in these programs to increase their awareness on election. About 542 persons from schools, 440 persons from districts and 100 university students have benefited from these programs. Beside, these programs, FEFA published a book titled “Young Figures” to support and appreciate the active youth. Paying attention to good and goodness is a proper culture. Appreciating the good ones who have achievements indicate our attention to their performance and will encourage them to do more. Appreciating the efforts and works of youth motivate them to try more in their life. While, we appreciate their efforts and works they will try to do their works better and increase their cooperation with others. Contents : The conference began by recitation of some verses of Holy Quran. Then, Mr. Haseeb Motaref, media officer of FEFA introduced the Youth Political Rights Advocacy Group and talked on importance of youth political participation. Likewise, he presented detailed information about the Young Figures Book. Subsequently, Mrs. Mariam, Women & Youth Outreach Officer of FEFA presented a brief presentation on its activities and its awareness programs on youth and election which was held in 35 male and female schools in Herat, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Paktia, Nangarhar, Balkh and 22 district of Kabul. Then, the young figures who were introduced in the book explained their background and talked about the achievements of their life. Mr. Tamana, chair of Center of Strategic Studies of Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented information about his career and said, “The Center of Strategic Studies of Ministry of Foreign Affairs made up of young figures who are interested to work for Afghanistan. The center has published 20 books based on international standards.
